General Minions wont take the last hit against a hog

Posting this for my clan mate who showed us a replay.

Hog was attacking king tower and he deployed minion horde. The minion horde flew away just before the hog was dead, hog gets a last hit on the tower and wins.

I believe what's happening is the hog only had partial hp, and the mechanics of the game say the king would have killed the hog, but his attack speed is slower than the horde so they flew away, and the hog's last attack was faster than the king as well, so he gets his last hit in.
