Android Google Play Sign In: Disconnected

So since I'm bored and have nothing better to do than spam click disconnected under settings and watch my account do the following:

Green box appears, Clash Royale connecting to, google play games
Choose account for google play games, I select my google account / email my previous clash royale data was associated with
Drop down appears with my google play game id / level
Rounded square box / red wifi symbol with an exclamation mark appears
Google play sign in under settings remains red / disconnceted

What I've tried thus far:

Managing google play and uninstalling updates, clearing cache & data "this worked for coc / bb"
Removing google account / re add via android acc / prompt from google play sign in under settings
Uninstalling / Reinstalling Clash Royale
Connected to both mobile data and wifi
Using both blue stacks and Samsung s5, same issue

What I'm hoping for would be a link or some blue / official post explaining if this will be resolved, or is it at least a Bug that is being acknowledged by sc as an issue given this might fall under google play. Any help or additional thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

update:

As I was typing this, Supercell just came back to me asking for my account info to recover a lost account? So does this mean my account is lost (lol)? I'll update with response if a recovery was / is possible "assuming the acc was lost".

Exact same happened to me when trying to link accounts with my ipad, I couldn't actually link this device to my old account yet because when I try to clicky link devices it says that I have to sign into Google play, but because I can't sign into Google play I can't link them yet which is disappointing.
