Android Connecting Facebook causes infinite loop of App restarting

After I connect to Facebook in the Game I can see my Facebook profile picture update beside my name however I do not see any of my friends in my list.. When I close the app and re-open it, I am now stuck in an infinite loop of the game loading to about 80% and restarting. If I clear the game data to remove the connect to Facebook option I can open the app again. I have tried re-insalling, checking Facebook to make sure the credentials are correct, and to make sure it is up to date, I've tried clearing cache,vor connecting and disconnecting Facebook multiple times but nothing will work to get Facebook to connect properly. I am using an Android One plus One device running on Android 5.1.1 and Facebook is version 68.0.0.37.59. I can provide phone logs if needed. I have seen from user reviews that I'm not the only one having this issue.
