iOS Can not deploy troops after that i destroyed 1 tower!!!

I have no idea why this happened but it made me really mad, i attacked first using hog rider, valkyrie and goblins with then i placed freeze, so i destroyed 1 tower, but in the last minute, when my elixir bar got full, i wasnt able to put anything in the arena so the other guy won, also the message saying *elixir bar full* did not appear! i have no idea why this happened, its not a connection problem because i saw him deploying troops and destroying my towers...
i hope this does not happens again!
