Happened the same exact thing after the global launch update. I was on level 5 too. I played on multiple android devices without any problem before the global update. But now my progress on google play is set to level 1.
Still my phone has level 5 account but if I connect to google play again it will reset to level 1.
I linked it to an iPad and now the level 5 account is on gamecenter but I want to recover it on google account. Because I play it mostly on android.
Sent in game messages to developers they replied once but didn't fixed it yet. Waiting for another reply.
