iOS Board freeze/board lock iOS 9.2.1

Since updating to iOS 9.2.1 every match I have been experiencing a board freeze/board lock were the game is still running but I can't place anything on the board and the only way to get it to work again is to completely shut down the app and restart it. I think it may have something to with iPad Air but after updating it, it now happens every game. My internet speed is above average and I don't know what's wrong, the game, my iPad, the Internet, iOS 9.2.1 or something else completely. I've tried redownloading the app but nothing, any help would be greatful, haven't been able to play a decent match in a week and have lost almost 200 trophies.
