iOS Notifications causing game to freeze

Whenever I'm in a random match and I receive a notification, all of the assets in the arena disappear and only the shadows and background remain. After about 2-3 seconds everything returns. The game seems to continue going on while this bug/glitch occurs.

I'm currently running iOS 9.2.1 on an iPhone 6S Plus.

My current workaround for the issue is to simply put my phone into "do not disturb" mode whenever I play the game. That stops all notifications from showing up in the middle of the game.
