Android Match starting without me

Quite a few times now as I enter the battle and the match starts the opponent has already launched a troop, meaning I have to go straight on the defensive. Prince has been that first troop a few times and he's already started charging when I get the chance to do something, it's all I can do to chuck a troop in front of him before he lances my tower.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with a 70MB fibre connection and am the only person using that connection.
