Android Cant place log over crossbow(building obstruction)

I place a crossbow at the bridge entrance.
The opponent drops skeleton army, Goblin gang to counter.
When I place a log over the crossbow, placement is obstructed.
Can only place log to either side or behind the crossbow building.
This results in only part of army damaged or log is unable to damage tower.
Placing crossbow back further to allow forward log placement results in no damage to enemy tower since crossbow is now out of range.

This is a new development since I've used that tactic in all my previous matches.
