Same concept applies to how mini pekka can hit hogrider when mini pekka is dropped near the bridge and an enemy hog is running towards tower (as long as the mini pekka attack animation winds up). Otherwise melee units wouldn't hit fast moving targets also even melee troops has a little range. mini pekka has 1.05 tiles range.
